Rack Systems

Our Ball Python Racks are from Reptile Basics Inc. We recommended these racks for multiple reasons. They hold temp and humidity well. The racks are light weight, stack-able and easy to clean. The price is also very reasonable. When two of the 32 quart racks are stacked on top of each other they are the perfect height. Rich is also a great guy to deal with. He also has a lot more then just racks.  Here is the link directing you to the racks but check out everything else while you are there: http://www.reptilebasics.com/reptile-rack-systems/

Substrate

We use Keepers Choice Cypress Bedding for our substrate. We use this in our Ball Python racks and the Green Tree Python enclosures. We find it works the best for us. We have tried Aspen bedding but when it gets wet it becomes moldy very fast and does not hold humidity very well. We have tried paper towel and newspaper in the Ball Python racks and hated it. The maintenance when using paper products was double and the smell was not the best either. So after trying Aspen, paper towel, newspaper we tried Cypress and will not look back.

P.A.M

Prevent A Mite or PAM for short. Every reptile keeper should have this stuff. Lets face it mites happen! It should be used when a new snake is purchased and it is placed in quarantine because one never knows. But read the directions on how to use it and never apply directly to the animal. The way we use it is, when we buy our bags of substrate they go into a big container. After we dump each bag out into the container we give it a good spray with PAM and repeat with each layer. The lid gets put on the container and the bedding sits until we need it. This also helps to dry the bedding out a little bit because when the bag is first opened the bedding is very wet. PAM should be used out doors or in a very well ventilated area and should never be used around arachnids. Remember READ THE DIRECTIONS ON THE BACK BEFORE USE AND FOLLOW THEM. If used incorrectly can kill your animal and will neurologically effect them.

Theromstats

We use Ranco Thermostats. The Ranco Thermostat is very easy to use and very affordable. We purchase ours prewired from Reptile Basics Inc. One thing about them is that they are a little large but other then that they are a solid thermostat.
